Location: Tucked away in County Wicklow, Devil's Glen Wood is a tranquil escape which offers natural beauty, wildlife, and intriguing history.

History: The history of Devil's Glen Wood is steeped in both natural wonder and local legend. The glen itself was carved by glacial erosion thousands of years ago, creating the dramatic cliffs and waterfalls that characterize the area. The name "Devil's Glen" is rooted in Irish folklore, with tales suggesting that the deep gorge and powerful waterfall were created by the devil himself, giving the place a mystical allure.

Historically, the woodlands were part of the vast Powerscourt Estate, one of Ireland's most famous estates. It was later transformed into a forest park by the Irish forestry service.

Get there: The wood is easily accessible by car from Dublin, which is about an hour's drive away. Follow the M11 southbound and take the exit for Ashford. From there, follow signs for Devil’s Glen, and you’ll find the entrance and car park just a short drive away. Public transport options are limited, but you can reach Ashford by bus from Dublin, and then take a taxi or walk the rest of the way.

To Do:

- The main attraction are the walking trails, especially the Waterfall Walk, which leads you through a forested path to a stunning waterfall. You can also check out The Sculpture in Woodland project on the way.
- The woodland is home to a variety of bird species and wildlife, including deer, foxes, and badgers.
- Devil's Glen is also an ideal place for wild swimming with various spots along the trail to dip in.
