About: Ballinstoe Woods is situated in the heart of County Wicklow, about 45 kilometers (28 miles) south of Dublin. It lies near the picturesque village of Roundwood and is part of the larger Wicklow Mountains National Park.
Get there:
By Car: From Dublin, take the N11/M11 south towards Wicklow. Exit at Kilmacanogue and follow the signs for the R755 towards Roundwood. Once in Roundwood, follow the signs to the Ballinstoe Woods car park. The drive takes approximately one hour. There is plenty of parking options in the main car park.
What to do: There are several different trails you can follow, each with a different grade of difficulty. They all range from 30 mins to 3+ hours. You can follow these from the signs in the car park or view more here.
There are stunning views along the way, but once you reach the top, you will see the incredible views of Guinness lake.
