Our Commitment To Our Planet

protecting what we love

At the heart of Bleubird is a passion for the planet we love.

As a team we feel a profound responsibility to hold ourselves accountable, build an authentic business, and recognise our environmental and social impact. We are passionate about doing what is good for our planet – or trying our best to.

01

The Bleubird Foundation

The main way we give back. There's a whole page dedicated to this as there is a lot going on here, read more about that here.

As a brief overview - we run 3 projects in Mulanje, Malawi, Africa which help both local people and the environment.

02

Our Products

We ensure that all our products are manufactured the right way - we take this extremely seriously and simply do not cut any corners.

We use recycled polyester and organic cottons as the main materials. This is important because it helps reduce our environmental footprint without compromising quality or comfort.

Recycled polyester gives new life to existing plastic waste, cutting down on landfill use and the demand for virgin materials, while also saving energy and water in production.

Organic cotton is grown without harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilisers, protecting soil health, farmers, and ecosystems.

Together, these materials support a more better textile industry which lowers emissions, and conserves natural resources. We believe this should be the baseline for all brands.

03

Reforestation

We have always planted one tree for every order. We've done this from the beginning and it now comes as standard for us. It's great to see more brands and businesses doing this too.

This planet needs more trees for all sorts of reasons.

We have recently switched where and how we achieve this. We now do this through The Bleubird Foundation, in Malawi and we have increased it to 2 trees for every order. We do this ourselves because we have complete control and transparency over what is happening and most importantly, the land we use is protected meaning that none of these newly planted trees will be cut down in a few years time.

04

Shipping

When you place an order with us online, you will receive it in a durable paper mailing bag. The paper is sourced from FSC certified suppliers and we have included a second adhesive strip internally, allowing you to use the same bag for any returns you may need to send back.

You will also find the products are protected by plastic garment bags - don't worry, the majority of these bags are bio-degradable, otherwise they are fully recyclable - instruction on how to dispose of them properly are on the bags themselves. The last thing we want is more trash in our Oceans, so we've ensured we won't be a contributor to this.

05

Other small things...

Ensuring we are limiting the detrimental impact we as a business has on the environment includes the little everyday life things around the office and warehouse also.

We have a great recycling programme for all office and warehouse waste. We use a local charity who employ workers with learning difficulties to collect our used cardboard and repurpose or recycle it.

We use paper packaging tape as much as we can (sometimes traditional packaging tape is required for specific items which is unavoidable).

When bringing our products in from overseas we consolidate shipping as best we can and we only use air freight services when we absolutely must, otherwise we ship via sea which is more environmentally friendly than air.

Everything helps, big or small.
