Finance Assistant – Full Time

About Us

Bleubird are Ireland’s largest outdoor adventure brand. We specialise in outdoor equipment and apparel, developing products born from Ireland’s rugged landscape.

Now in our 8th year of trading we are in an exciting period of growth supplying over 250 retailers globally from our headquarters in Belfast with showrooms in Northern Ireland, Finland and France.

We’re on the hunt for someone who’s ambitious but kind. Someone who takes their work incredibly seriously, but not themselves. Someone who values being part of a team where their input really counts.

You will be a member of the Bleubird team where your opinion and insight matter. This is not your normal Finance Assistant role. You will be involved in everything from the day-to-day finance functions, to the preparation of management accounts, to production oversight and liaising with our supply partners globally. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your role at the same pace as the growth of the company.

We’re searching for someone with energy, great people skills, a strong aptitude for systems, exceptional organisation and ‘a completer-finisher’.

If this is you, keep reading…

Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in accounts is preferred, but if you have fantastic organisational skills, are intuitive, have a strong work ethic and an aptitude to learn we want to hear from you.

The Role

This role is Belfast-based.

The role will include:

  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
Using Xero to ensure all bank account and credit card accounts are reconciled and up to date.
  • Accounts Payable
Processing supplier invoices, matching against POs, ensuring on time payment.
  • Accounts Receivable
Managing Bleubird’s aged debtors list. Liaising with customers who are overdue on account. Suggesting credit limit amendments if necessary. Reviewing missed Direct Debit payments.
  • Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts
Working closely with the Operations Director to ensure there is timely monthly management account information to direct business strategy.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting
Working closely with the Operations Director to ensure there is strong cash flow forecasting on a rolling 18 month basis to ensure and finance needs of the business are met.

  • Coordinating sub-contracted production
    We design all our own products in-house and have a talented NPD team to bring our product ideas to life. We are constantly working 18 – 24 months ahead with product development. This role would take over the process of product development from the point the orders are placed;
    • Coordinating that suppliers are on time with various production deadlines,
    • Coordinating third-party supplier quality inspections (along with NPD),
    • Arranging and coordinating shipping of inbound orders,
    • Ensuring good and accurate communication of delivery dates on inbound orders with various stakeholders (warehouse, sales team, customers etc.),

  • Trade Customer Success
Assisting the customer success coordinator to increase value with existing customer base. Utilising reporting tools to do this as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Given the dynamic and fast-growth nature of Bleubird’s business the role may entail other responsibilities from time to time to meet business needs on an ad hoc basis.
