Bleubird Design Internship (Now Closed)

About Us

We're looking for a highly enthusiastic and creative person to join our team on a part time design internship.

The role will be based between our offices in Mallusk (4 Sentry Ln, Newtownabbey BT36 4XX) and our shop on a Saturday (330 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, BT4 3EX).

Bleubird is a specialist in outdoor equipment and apparel products. Now in our 7th year of trading, we are in an exciting period of growth supplying over 250 retailers globally from our headquarters in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

You will be an integral member of the Bleubird team and have the opportunity to collaborate with the design and production of our new product ranges. You will also represent the brand in our own retail setting.

We’re searching for someone with a natural aptitude for design and detail. Someone who has energy, great people skills and is highly self-motivated. If you fit this description, we want to hear from you.

Job Description

The Role will include:

  • Collaborate on the design and production of new ranges including fabric selections, colour palettes and print artwork.

  • Create product sketches and CADs on Adobe illustrator.

  • Assist with quality control of new stock.

  • Assist with market research and trend analysis.

  • Review current product range and carry out GAP analysis.

  • Assisting customers in store, processing sales and being able to answer customer queries on product, brand and service.

  • Ensuring the store is well merchandised in keeping with Bleubird's brand standards and expectation.

  • Processing replenishment orders from Bleubird's warehouse and ensuring any replenishment stock is put out on display in a timely manner.

  • Keyholder responsibilities for the Bleubird shop.

  • Stock take of inventory in the shop and updating in POS system.

  • Any other jobs that may be required in assisting the running of the business on an ad hoc basis.

This internship is for 15 hour per week. It is based in our offices mid-week and from our East Belfast shop on a Saturday where you will assist with running the Bleubird shop independently, along with carrying out design responsibilities.

The shop operates a "card-only" policy and is cashless, so the role does not involve any cash handling responsibilities.

Mid-week hours; one day (flexibility on which day to suit candidate): 09:00 - 17:00

Saturday hours: 09:30 - 17:30

Criteria

Essential Criteria

  • Creativity using Adobe illustration or editing tools.

  • Understanding of garment construction.

  • Understanding of garment production process.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and eagerness to learn.

  • Willingness to prioritise customer service.

  • Confident with exceptional people skills.

  • A problem solver.

  • Highly motivated and proactive with the ability to multitask.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently and efficiently.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working in a retail environment;

  • Experience of working with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
